Kubra Kay is a natural and organic skin care brand founded by American of Senegalese descent, Khadidja Toure in July 2019.

Beginnings and Growth

Khadidja Toure credits her interest in skin care to her mom whom she says tried out beauty remedies in their kitchen. As for her entrepreneurial spirit, she credits both her mom and grandmother, the latter who was originally from Senegal. In college, Toure struggled with acne made worse by the fact that she would sweat a lot while playing basketball and at the gym.

After college, the acne worsened since working as a Biomedical Engineer, Toure traveled a lot to different environments with different weather conditions. In 2019 alone, she traveled to over 25 countries. During her visits to these countries, Toure toured small villages as well.

In the process, she got to learn about different ingredients the villagers would use for skin care and DIYs. From this  extensive travel, Toure was inspired enough to create a skin care brand influenced by the different beauty practices she had since picked up worldwide. Kubra Kay skin care line therefore includes ingredients such as Shea Butter and Cocoa Butter available easily in West Africa.

Kubra Kay products also cater to common skin conditions such as Acne, Blackheads, Oily Skin, Hyperpigmentation, Keratosis Pilaris and Eczema. The brand has since been featured in top magazines such as Glamour, Vogue, Women’s Health among others.
