It’s not uncommon to often stumble on gifted artists coming out of Nigeria. As a matter of fact, ABOC Worldwide Directory has already listed TJ Benson and Lare Samuel Adeola of the Sef Adeola brand. Interestingly, the aforementioned artists also have a close link with the writing world either as writers or working with literary journals.

Meet Anthony Azekwoh

Anthony Azekwoh is a digital artist, Illustrator and writer, based in Lagos, Nigeria. One of his best works is arguably, The Red Man a painting that has since garnered over 46,000 retweets and over 240,000 likes on twitter. As a writer, Anthony Azekwoh has registered his fair share of success. He is the author of 5 books. Currently, he is working on the sequel to his 4th book, Sango, Oya.

Achievements

In 2017, Azekwoh won the ACT Award for his short story, The Fall of the Gods. And again in 2019, he won the $1000 Loose Convo grant for his short stories. At the moment, he is writing a series on Brittle Paper. Worth mentioning is that the platform is touted as the largest online literature magazine in Africa.

On August 15th 2020, Azekwoh released The Deathless Collector’s Edition of impressive paintings with brightly colored backgrounds on his twitter handle.
